*JACOB'S ROUGH ROAD TO BETHEL*

*By Pastor E O Gabriel  25 June 2023*

SCRIPTURE: if any Man be in Christ, he is a New Creature: Old things are Passed away; behold, all things are become New - *2 Corinthians 5:17*

*Following exposition on Life at Bethel, we need to explicitly highlight Jacob's rough road to Bethel.*

*The unpleasant journey is as follows:*

*(1)* He could see danger looming, he saw trouble and death ahead. His brother had threatened to kill him for the blessing, he stole from his father - *Genesis 27:41*

Samuel told Eli of the danger ahead, but the latter was complacent.

He said It is God: Let Him do whatever seems Good - *1 Samuel 3:18*

*Eli's complacency could not lead him to Bethel.*

*When a man is not confronted with the consequences of his sin, he can't get to Bethel.*

Jacob could see death ahead because of his deceit.

The Bible says woe unto them that are at ease in Zion - *Amos 6:1*

*(2)* He arose and fled as advised by his Mother - *Genesis 27:43*

He took action to escape the consequences of his sin.

The Bible says: How shall we escape if we neglect so Great a Salvation - *Hebrews 2:3*

*(3)* He left his father's house, taking nothing from home.

He Purposed to begin life anew.

*Those who are in Christ are New Creatures, Old things are Passed away, behold all things become New - *2 Corinthians 5:17*

*Until we decide to start anew, we cannot get to Bethel.*

*We begin to enjoy the Bethel experiences when we Purpose to have a clean break from our sinful Past.*

*Prayer:*

Father, Please give me a Heart that turns away from sin to Righteousness, that I may dwell at Bethel all the days of my Life.
