*RETIRE TO STEP UP*

SCRIPTURE: He that laboureth laboureth for himself; For his mouth craveth it of him - *Proverbs 16:26*


Elisha was a Mechanised Farmer, he flourished in farming - *1 Kings 19:19*


While engaging in  Mechanised Farming, he was also a Prophet of God. He was one of the seven thousand Prophets who never bowed their knees to Baal - *1 Kings 19:18*


When it was time for God to take Elijah up to Heaven by a whirlwind, so as not to create a vacuum, God compulsorily retired Elisha from Mechanised Farming to step into Elijah's shoes - *1 Kings 19:16*


Elijah was retired not only to step into Elisha's shoes, but also to step up his Kingdom business of Prophesying. 


This explains why his only heart desire in Ministry was Double Portion of the Spirit on Elijah - *2 Kings 2:9*


*What were the steps Elisha took to step up his Kingdom business after retirement?*


*(1)* He was grateful for his Past.


He went to kiss his father and mother - *1 Kings 19:20*


This connotes his Past.


*Gratitude for the Past, is set up for Great Heights in future.*


*(2)* He became a Good Servant.


He was pouring water on the Elijah's hands - *2 Kings 3:11*


*Only Good and Faithful Servants become Great Leaders.*


*(3)* He became a Committed Follower.


He told his Master wherever you go, I go. 


*Only Committed Followers will not Yransgress.*


Gehazi was not committed, he eventually grieved God's Spirit.


*(4)* He was sensitive to the Holy Ghost.


The sons of the Prophets asked him, do you know your Master will be taken away from you today? He answered Yea, I know, hold your Peace - *2 Kings 2:3*


He knew through the Holy Spirit.


*(5)* He was focused.


The sons of the Prophets were Positioned to distract him, but he remained focused.


*The Blessings of stepping up his Kingdom business:*


*(1)* He stepped from the Natural to the Supernatural. 


*(2)* Those who despised him bowed before him.


*(3)* He became a Man of Great Impact.


*(4)* He became a National Figure, 


Kings called him father.


*(5)* He was still relevant after death.


Our Anchor Text above says he that labours, labour for himself. 


*Every sacrifice Elisha made in the Kingdom business puts him far above his contemporaries.*


*Prayer:*

Father, Please empower me to make sacrifices that will put me far above my contemporaries.

Jacob was enlarged, and the Bible says, the man (Jacob) increased Exceedingly - *Genesis 30:43* The Enlargement of Jacob was with a lot of Struggles.  He Struggled with Esau, his brother, in the womb - *Genesis 25:22* Even when he was born, he continued to Struggle with Esau, for his Birthright.  Jacob, in his quest for Enlargement, deceived his father.
