*BEWARE OF A CIVILIAN SPIRIT*

SCRIPTURE: It happened in the Spring of the year, at the time when Kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem - *2 Samuel 11:1*


The Bible says, endure hardness as a Good Soldier of Jesus Christ - *2 Timothy 2:3*


Every Believer is called to be a Good Soldier and must beware of imbibing a Civilian's Spirit. It is great disaster to do so. 


David had been a Good Soldier all his Life, always engaging in warfare. He fought battles with a lion and a bear - *1 Samuel 17:34*


When Goliath showed up to threaten the Nation of Israel and defy her army, David engaged him in a battle - *1 Samuel 17:32*


*David was always conscious that he was a Soldier called to fight battles.*


Unfortunately, in our Anchor Text above, He had lost the consciousness that he was a Soldier. 


The Bible says, at the time when Kings go forth to battle, David sent his men to battle, but he tarried at Jerusalem. 


*A Soldier stayed at home as a Civilian, when he ought to go to battle; what a great error! He allowed a Civilian Spirit.*


While he stayed at home, he  saw a woman bathing, slept with her and arranged for her husband to be killed - *2 Samuel 11:2-24*


*What a great disaster for a Soldier to imbibe Civilian Spirit!*


No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may Please him who enlisted him as a Soldier - *2 Timothy 2:4*


It is for this reason that we are commanded to take on  the Whole Armour of God that we may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to Stand - *Ephesians 6:13*


*Life is warfare and the devil with a great wrath, walks about like a roaring lion looking for whom to devour.*


*It is therefore, not safe for any Christian to imbibe a Civilian Spirit but remain a Good Soldier always.*


*Prayer:*

Father, let me never lose the consciousness that I am a Good Soldier of Jesus Christ.

Jacob was enlarged, and the Bible says, the man (Jacob) increased Exceedingly - *Genesis 30:43* The Enlargement of Jacob was with a lot of Struggles.  He Struggled with Esau, his brother, in the womb - *Genesis 25:22* Even when he was born, he continued to Struggle with Esau, for his Birthright.  Jacob, in his quest for Enlargement, deceived his father.
