*POWER BELONGS TO HIM*

SCRIPTURE: It is in the Power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me yesternight, saying, Take thou heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad - *Genesis 31:29*


Jacob was returning to Canaan from Laban's house without Laban's consent. 


Laban got wind of Jacob's departure, with his wives and all his belongings. After three days, Laban decided to Pursue him with an Army of men. 


On his journey, God appeared to Laban and warned him not to hurt Jacob.


In our Text above, when Laban caught up with Jacob, he said to him, that it is in my Power to hurt you but God has warned me to leave you alone. 


Laban's confession confirms that Power belongs to God - *Psalms 62:11*


He has the Power to hurt, but God who is the Owner of Power withdrew the Power from him.


*There are a number of implications of what happened to Laban:*


*(1)* Power does not belong to any Man - *Psalms 62:11*


God rules in the Kingdom of Men and gives it to whosoever He wills - *Daniel 4:17*


*(2)* God can withdraw Power from anyone.


He withdrew it from Laban.


*(3)* Power must be used in the fear of God, to sustain it - *2 Samuel 23:3*


*(4)* Whoever arrogates Power to himself without acknowledging God is on his way down - *Daniel 4:30-33*


*(5)* We can cry to God whenever anyone uses His Power to oppress us - *Exodus 3:7*


*It is only God who lifts up or cast down, whoever he uses as a Vessel must not arrogate it to himself otherwise he will have God to contend with for sharing in his Glory* - *Isaiah 42:8*


*Prayer:*

Father, Please help me to be Mindful that Power belongs to You.

Jacob was enlarged, and the Bible says, the man (Jacob) increased Exceedingly - *Genesis 30:43* The Enlargement of Jacob was with a lot of Struggles.  He Struggled with Esau, his brother, in the womb - *Genesis 25:22* Even when he was born, he continued to Struggle with Esau, for his Birthright.  Jacob, in his quest for Enlargement, deceived his father.
