*FASTING FOR WRONG REASONS*

SCRIPTURE: But do not yield to them, for more than forty of them lie in wait for him, men who have bound themselves by an oath that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him; and now they are ready, waiting for the Promise from you.” -

*Acts 23:21*


*One of the most effective Spiritual Weapons available to Believers is Fasting.*


It is highly effective in loosing the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens and the breaking of every yoke - *Isaiah 58:6*


*Some very Stubborn issues and everlasting Mountains bow only to the Power generated on the Altar of Fasting and Prayer.*


Jesus said howbeit this kind goeth not out but by Prayer and Fasting - *Matthew 17:21*


*It is unfortunate that this Powerful Spiritual Exercise is often engaged for wrong reasons.*


*For example, in our Anchor Text, fourty men bound themselves to an oath that they will not eat nor drink until they killed Paul, the Apostle. And because their Fasting was for a wrong reason, God dishonoured their Fast.*


*The Bible also says some Fast for strife and debate  and to smite with the fist of wickedness - Isaiah 58:4*


*This is for wrong reasons and unacceptable to God.*


*Therefore, whenever we are Fasting we should check to be sure that it is Godly, otherwise we are engaging in an exercise  in futility.*


*Prayer:*

Father, Please help me never to Fast in vain.
