MOBILE PHONE: BLESSING OR BURDEN.

*MOBILE PHONE: BLESSING OR BURDEN.*

During our outreach last year, while moving from one end of town to the other, I heard a radio program on which the moderator was questioning a parent about their pregnant child.

My attention was drawn away from the program until a question was posed that enraged the vehicle's driver. He was quite irritated.

He started venting on us in the bus, and I thought some of his statements were humorous, and I wondered what was causing all of this.

However, he went on to say that this generation is truly out of place. This communication device, you see, is the bane of this generation.

According to him, it was easy to watch your children's actions in the past. You decide and control the level of interaction your ward has with the outside world, particularly with people of the opposite sex.

You can readily notice when anything is out of place, but your young child now has the ability to do so right in front of your eyes thanks to technology, interacting with folks you'd never expected to meet in your entire life.

You'd rather not be caught talking to the opposite sex back in the day, but your daughter has chatted with more than ten guys, discussing their next move while preparing dinner in the kitchen in your presence in less than five minutes.
You didn't have much access to pornography back then. Accessing it is a deliberate act. But not anymore.
You don't even have to look for it because it's right in front of your eyes on the same phone. What about internet fraud? On the phone, identify any vices that cannot be carried out over the phone. It is being questioned how the daughter became pregnant. Would they be following them around?
I had laughed a lot by the time we got off, but I had also learned a few things. The phone, like money, is an inanimate object. Whatever becomes of it depends on who the person using it is.

We can't go back to the Stone Age, but it is our responsibility to see to it that the electronics in our children's hands are used appropriately. Education is the only instrument we have.
Which do you choose, the blessing or the burden?

I am Pastor E O Gabriel.
