*PREVENTING SUNSET*

SCRIPTURE: So he came to a certain Place and stayed there all night, because the Sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that Place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that Place to sleep -*Genesis  28:11*

*It is a terrible thing for a man to experience Sunset in the midst of his days.*

*Several unpleasant things attend the way of a man who's Sun sets.*

An example can be seen in Jacob, a child of Covenant whose father, Isaac, was Great. He experienced several Painful experiences:

*(1)* He tarried all night.

*This speaks of Stagnancy.*

*Progress ceases in the life of a man whose Sun has set.* 

Irrespective of his labour, there will be no New Blessing. 

He begins to live on his Past Glory,  experiencing better yesterdays.

*(2)* He took stones, which connotes hardship. 

*Sunset exposes a man to hard, bitter and Painful Living.*

*(3)* Darkness sets in at Sunset.

Darkness is everywhere when the Sun sets. 

Glories are covered and the man experiencing Sunset is covered with shame. 

*(4)* He laid down to sleep.

*Sleeping stands for being lukewarm and backsliding.*

The Spiritual Fire of a man experiencing Sunset goes out.

*(5)* His Sun set in Haran.

*Haran was the Place his great grand-father Terah died without reaching his destination* - *Genesis 11:32*

*When a man's Sun sets, he will stop where his father stopped.*

*It is not the Plan of God for us to experience Sunset.* 

The Bible says the Path of the Just is as a Shining Light that shines more and more unto the Perfect Day - *Proverbs 4:18*

Therefore, we must work against Sunset in the midst of our days.

*Jacob would have Prevented this unpleasant situation he found himself, if he had confronted his sin of deceit rather than running away from it.* 

The Bible says the way of a Transgressor is hard - *Proverbs 13:15*

*He would have Prevented a Sunset by confessing and forsaking his sins.* 

This would have qualified him for the Mercy of God - *Proverbs 28:13*

*Prayer:* Father, Please let your Mercy keep my Sun from setting all the days of my life in Jesus Christ mighty name.
