*POWER WITHOUT AUTHORITY*

SCRIPTURE: Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul Preacheth - *Acts 19:13 KJV*

*One of the worst situations a Man can be in Life is to enjoy Power without Authority.*

*What is power?*

*(1)* The Ability or Capacity to do something.

*(2)* The Ability or Capacity to influence Outcomes.

*(3)* The Force that compels Obedience.

*What Is Authority?*

*(1)* It is the Power or Right to give Orders or make Decisions and enforce Obedience.

*(2)* It is the Legitimacy to use Power.

*(3)* It is the Right to represent.

*From the definitions above, Power without Authority  means to have an Ability to do something while lacking the Legitimacy to do it.*

The Story of the seven sons of Sceva in our Anchor Bible Text above illustrates Power without Authority. 

They desired to cast Demons in the Name of Jesus, and a Man who arms himself with the Name of Jesus is a Man of Power - *Philippians 2:9-11*

But they lacked the Legitimacy to use the Name. Hence, the Demons said Jesus, I know, Paul, I know, who are you? - *Acts 19:14*

Their Legitimacy was Queried.

*From their Story, let us see the results of Power without Authority.*

*(1)* One becomes a Victim in Life - *Acts 19:16*

*(2)* One may end in Shame - *Acts 19:16*

*(3)* They were wounded - *Acts 19:16*

*Prayer:*

Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to be rightly Positioned to use Your Power with Authority in Jesus Christ Name.
