*ABSALOM REBELLED AGAINST DAVID*

SCRIPTURE: In this manner Absalom acted toward all Israel who came to the King for Judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel - *2 Samuel 15:6*


The background story of Absalom's rebellion was unfortunate: 


Absalom's sister Tamar, was raped by Amnon, his step brother. David their father heard of it but did nothing about it.


Absalom was hurt and nursed his bitterness for two years, until he avenged his sister by killing Amnon.


Thereafter, he ran away to Geshur and stayed there for three years, until David sent that he should be brought back to Jerusaleum.


He came back and for two years after his return, David did not attend to Absalom. 


Meanwhile, the spirit of rebellion was growing in Absalom.


At the time David eventually allowed Absalom to see him, he had stolen the hearts of the People from his father as recorded in our text.


*As in this case: Many children in our Generation are rebelling against their Parents because of open wounds they experienced at home as a result of mismanagement of issues at home.*


If David had wisely handled Tamar's rape, it would not have escalated to murder and rebellion from Absalom.


The Bible says: 'And ye fathers, Provoke not your children to wrath but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord' - *Ephesians 6:4*


*Provoking children to wrath or mishandling issues, can breed and nurture a rebellious spirit in them.*


*Therefore, necessity is laid on Parents to admonish their children in the way of the Lord and wisely deal with all issues so that they will grow up in the knowledge of God and not imbibe a rebellious spirit.*


*If Absalom was taught on forgiveness, he would not have nursed a grudge for two years and become murderer.*


*Prayer:*

Father, Please give me Wisdom to raise up my children in the Way of the Lord in Jesus Christ Name.
