*BEWARE OF REBELLION*

*By Pastor E O Gabriel  16 March 2025: Share*

SCRIPTURE: So Samuel said: “Has the Lord has great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord ? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is  as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord , He also has rejected you from being king” - *I Samuel 15:22‭-‬23*

One of the Characters that did not end well in the Bible was Saul. He was a rebellious king who rebelled against God.

*The same Pride and rebellion that caused Lucifer to loose his Position in heaven was operative in Saul.*

*What is rebellion?*

*(1) Willful resistance and opposition to the Word of God.*

*A rebellious heart is one that has made a choice to consistently disobey  God.*

Saul disobeyed God in sparing Agag the king of the Amalekites and the best of their goods - *1 Samuel 15:9*

Samuel Pointed out his sin to him, but he refused to acknowledge his sin and repent. He made a choice to willfully disobey the Word of God.

*(2) Rebellion is rejecting the Authority of God.*

Samuel said to Saul: 'You have rejected the Word of God'  - *1 Samuel 15:23*

*Rebellion makes a man to reject a God Ordained authority over him* - *Romans 13:1*

*(3) A rebellious heart is unyielding to correction.*

Saul refused to yield to Samuel's corrective words.

*(4) Rebellion is making a choice to walk in one's own way, apart from the Will of God.*

Since God's Way is rejected, the rebellious chooses his own way.

*(5) Exalting one's Way above God's Way.*

Saul rejected correction because he exalted his way above the God's.

*It should be noted that at the root of rebellion is Pride.*

*This explains why rebels will not end well because God will resist the Proud.*

Samuel told Saul that God had rejected him - The Lord will always reject rebels.

*Therefore, the house of  rebels will be desolate.*

God rejected Ephraim and his house suffered desolation -  *Hosea 4:17, Hosea 5:19*

*In the light of the above, we need to beware of rebellion and work against it in our hearts.*

*Prayer:*

Father, give me a heart of Humility to hate rebellion against you and every Authority you have Ordained for me in Jesus Christ Name.
