*THRIVING IN DIFFICULT TIMES*

SCRIPTURE: Now there was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David. But, David grew stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker - *II Samuel 3:1*


*Difficult times are Challenging times when there are troubles, Pain, hardship, struggles and the likes.*


Both the house of Saul and the house of David were exposed to difficult times but David thrived, waxing stronger and stronger while the house of Saul was devastated by the difficult times.


*We need to take a look at the differences between Saul and David in order to know the secret to thriving in difficult times:*


*(1)* David's love for God does not Change with Seasons and Times.


True love for God is demonstrated by keeping His commandments - *John 14:15, 21*


Saul loved God before he became a King but thereafter, his love for God waxed cold.


David's love for God never diminished with Changing Times and Seasons. He said 'I will bless God at all times' - Meaning at Pleasant and difficult Times, I will bless God - *Psalms 34:1, Psalms 57:7*


*(2)* David was courageous and his courage was rooted in His knowledge and Obedience to God - *1 Samuel 17:45*


Saul was also courageous to lay hold of Samuel's garment but he's courage was channelled into doing the wrong thing.


*(3)* David was humble. 


He trembled at the Lord's Chastisement while Saul demonstrated lack of humility and he was hard hearted, very unrepentant  even at the Lord's rebuke. 


*He possessed Pharaoh's spirit in him* - *1 Samuel 15:23*


*(4)* David loved God more than his Position but Saul loved his Position more than God - *Psalms 84:10, 1 Samuel 15:24-26*


*(5)* David was a "Destiny Enabler" while Saul was a "Destiny Killer". 


Saul saw David as a highly Promising Young man and he Purposed to destroy him - *1 Samuel 18:10-11*


While David saw Greatness in those rejected by the Society and helped to nurture the seed of their Greatness to Maturity - *1 Samuel 22:1-2, 2 Samuel 33:8*


*The virtues David Possessed, were lacking in  Saul - David thrived in difficult Times but Saul did not.*


*Prayer:*

Father, help me to Possess the virtues in David that made him to thrive in difficult Times in Jesus Christ Name
