  *A PIG-PEN EXPERIENCE*

*Text: Luke 15:11-32*


*The Prodigal son had a pig-pen experience that brought about Glorious Transformation to him as a Person.*


*The lessons he didn't learn while he was with his father, he learnt them through a pig-pen experience.* 


*Many of us don't listen to the Word God spoken to us in our Comfort Zones, but the Sermons speak loud and clear to us when we are hit by crisis in life.* 


The Prodigal son wasted his Inheritance on "Riotous Living". Thereafter, there arose a famine, he found himself  in a pigs-pen, eating foods belonging to pigs.


*Let us look at some of the lessons he learnt:*


(1) He came to himself.


This means he discovered who he was, he discovered his Identity.


(a) Who we are is a Function of our Location.


When he discovered his Identity, he came to the consciousness that he was not meant to be living in a pig-pen.


(b) Who we are is a function of the company we keep.


He discovered his Identity and knew he was not supposed to keep company with pigs.


(c) Who we are is a function of what we eat.


He came to himself. He came to the consciousness that he was not to eat the same food as pigs, because even his father's hired servants had enough bread.


(d) Who we are is a function of our direction.


He said I will arise and go to my father.


*A true child of God daily walks in the narrow way to Heaven.*


(e) Who we are is a function of where we end.


Two Eternal Destinations: Heaven and Hell and where we end, is a function of who we are.


(2) He learnt in the pig pen that dwelling with his father is far better than dwelling with pigs.


(3) He learnt the right thing to ask his father.


When he was with his father, his request was: 'Father Give me'.


But, with the pig-pen experience his request changed to 'Make me.'


*He discovered that who we are, is far more important than what we have.*


*Being a true child of God is far more Superior than owning the world.*


*Key Point:* The Sacrifices of dwelling with God, is far better than the Pain of a pig-pen experience.


*Prayer:* 

Father, Please help me to dwell with you all the days of my life and hearken to Your Word daily in Jesus Christ Name.
