     *SPEAK TO THE ROCK*

SCRIPTURE: “Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals" - *Numbers 20:8*


The children of Israel needed water and the Lord commanded Moses to speak unto the rock, that it should bring forth water for the Congregation and their beasts.


Moses did not hearken to God's instruction. He smote the rock and he incurred the wrath of God.


*But, let us take a look at the lessons God wanted to teach Moses and the Israelites:*


(1) Man is created in the Image of God and should function like God.


God spoke to darkness that was upon the face of the deep - He said: Let there be light and there was light - *Genesis 1:1-3*


*We can speak the desirable to the available.*


(2) God wanted Moses and the children of Israel to know how Powerful words are. 


*Words can bring water out of the rock.*


*Words can build or pull down.* -  *Proverbs 18:21; Matthew 12:37*


(3) Whatever we need is where we are, if only we can speak it out. 


We are to call those things that be not as though they were - Just like God - *Romans 4:17*


(4) Every creature both living and non living have ears to hear. 


Rocks can hear, trees can hear, bones can hear, the ground can hear, the sea can hear and every creature can be spoken to - *Mark. 4:41*


(5) All things are Possible through God, including things not Possible to men.


*What are we to say to the rock?*


(a) The Written Word of God - *Matthew 4:11*


(b) The Spoken Word of God - *Exodus 34:34*


(c) The Word put in our mouths by God. 


Ezekiel Prophesied as he was commanded by the Lord - *Ezekiel 37:1-11*


(d) Our words under the influence of the Holy Spirit - *1 kings 17:1*


(e) Our words when we are sent by God - *Isaiah 44:26*


*Moses refused to speak to the rock rather he smote the rock.* 


*The Lord expects us to speak to the available, in order to receive the desirable.*


*Prayer:*

Father, thank You for the exposition of Your Word, help me to speak the desirable to the available in Jesus Christ Name.
