*THE QUALITIES OF A DELIVERER*

 *By Pastor E O Gabriel  28 April 2025: Share*

SCRIPTURE: Now Ebed-Melech the Ethiopian, one of the eunuchs, who was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon. When the king was sitting at the Gate of Benjamin, Ebed-Melech went out of the king’s house and spoke to the king, saying: “My Lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the Prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon, and he is likely to die from hunger in the place where he is. For there  is  no more bread in the city" - *Jereniah 38:7‭-‬9*

It is interesting to know that the Person raised by God to deliver Jeremiah from the dungeon was least expected. His name was Ebed-Melech, an Ethopian eunch who was in the Palace of Zedekiah, the king.

*Let us take a look at some of his qualities that made God to work through him for the deliverance of Jeremiah:*

*(1)* He was a servant of the king.

*Everyone that will be used of God must be ready to serve and not to be served* - *Matthew 23:11*

*(2)* He heard that Jeremiah had been cast into a dungeon.

Everyone that will be used by God must have a hearing ear to hear the inaudible. Such a Person must be discerning and sensitive - *Revelation 1:10*

*(3)* He lived sacrificially. He risked his life to meet with the king.

Custom demands that he must be invited before he could come before the King or he would die.

But, he risked going to the king uninvited.

*God is interested in those who can live a life of Sacrifice, those who would lay down their lives for their Brethren.*

It is written that he that loves his life shall lose it - *John 12:25*

*Therefore, it is risky to live for self alone.*

*(4)* He spoke out to the King about the evil of casting Jeremiah into the dungeon.

When the Good is silent, the evil will reign.

*Therefore, it is not enough to note that there is evil, it is important to speak out.*

The servant of the King spoke out about the evil in the Land.

While Obadiah kept quite about the evil of King Ahab, Elijah spoke out - *1 Kings 18:18*

*(5)* He said to the king what the Princes did to cast Jeremiah into the dungeon was evil.

He called what was not Good, evil.

Unfortunately, our Generation is calling evil Good.

The Bible says woe unto him that call evil Good - *Isaiah 5:20*

*When someone is lying,  we don't say he is lying but we say that he is ecomical with the truth - We are trying to give sinners soft landing while God is angry with him every day - *Psalms 7:11*

*Prayer:*

Father, Please help me to be an instrument in Your hand for the deliverance of Your People in Jesus Christ Name.
