         *THE ROD OF GOD*

SCRIPTURE:  So Moses took his wife and his sons and had them ride on a donkey, and went back to the land of Egypt. And Moses took the staff of God in his hand - *Exodus 4:20*


God encountered Moses and commissioned him to go before Pharaoh, and declare that he should allow the children of Israel to go, that they may serve Him. During this encounter, God asked Moses what was in his hand and he answered that it was a rod - *Exodus 4:2*


This was the rod he used while keeping the flocks of Jethro his father-in-law. This was his but after his encounter, it became the rod of God.


When the Amalekites came against Israel at Rephidim, Moses said to Joshua, 'choose out men and face the Amalekites and I will go to the top of the Mount with the rod of God in mine hand'. And God discomforts the Amalekites because the rod of God was lifted up - *Exodus 17:8-13*


Also, the strong east wind blew to part the Red Sea for the children of Isreal to enjoy a way, where there was no way, when the rod of God was stretched over the sea - *Exodus 15:21*


*It is amazing what the rod of God did in Moses' Ministry while leading the children of Israel.*


*Therefore, it is important to study what made the rod of Moses become the rod of God:*.


There are three basic steps:


(1) God asked him what was in his hand, though God knows all things.

God wanted the true identity of what was in his hand. 


*We must know where we are, for God to move us to where we ought to be.*


(2) He was asked to cast it on the ground. 


You cannot eat your cake and have it; whatever you hold on to is yours. God is a gentleman, he won't struggle with you.


The Bible says unless a corn of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it abides alone. But, if it dies, it brings forth much fruit -  *John 12:24*

 

(3) He gave the rod a New Name. 


Moses was the one who called it the rod of God. 


Whatsoever name Adam called the Living  Creatures, that was their name - *Genesis 2:19*


*Call your children by the name you want them to grow into.* 


*If you call your wife the daughter of Zion, she will resemble God in character.*


*It is awesome what God can do with what is in our hands, provided we Pay the Price.*


*Prayer:* 

Father, Please help me to consecrate my life and everything in my hands unto You in Jesus Christ Name.
