*WHEN YOU SUFFER LONG*

*By Pastor E O Gabriel  19 April 2025: Share*

SCRIPTURE: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, Joy, Peace, longsuffering, kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness -

*Galatians 5:22*

*The word "suffering" is a word we turn deaf ears to as children of God.*

This is generally because we have come to erroneously believe that as a Born Again child of God, we are immune to sufferings.

*It should be noted that everyone including Christians, will experience suffering which may differ in its length of time.*

Joseph moved from one situation of crisis to another for thirteen years.

Job, a man who feared God, experienced Pain and suffering that lasted for a long time, causing friends to mock him.

Apostle Paul's Pilgrimage on Earth, was riddled with hardship and sufferings.

*While we are not to glorify sufferings, when we find ourselves in situations that are uncomfortable and unpalatable, we ought to have the right attitude towards them.*

*We are to remember that the trial of our Faith is much more Precious than of Gold that Perishes and though it be tried with fire, might be found unto Praise and Honour and Glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ* - *1 Peter 1:7*

It is obvious in our text that long suffering is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.

*We are empowered by the Spirit to suffer long without compromising our Values or our Faith as Christians.*

Joseph went through his suffering without compromising his Christian Virtues and Values.

Apostle Paul went through his trials and came out with the Testimony that nothing can separate us from the love of God - *Romans 8:35-39*

Long suffering is a fruit of the Spirit that can only be developed in trying times.

It teaches us to be slow to anger and Patient.

Long suffering teaches us not to give up on People and situations.

The Bible says we are to walk worthy of our Calling, with long suffering, forbearing one another in love - *Ephesians 4:1-2*

*Prayer:*

Father, help me to walk worthy of my Calling and engrace me to emerge More Than a Conqueror from every trial of Faith in Jesus Christ Name.
