*A CITY SET ON A HILL (Part 1)*

SCRIPTURE: “You are the light of the world. A City that is set on a hill cannot be hidden - *Matthew 5:14*


The Lord likened a Believer to a City set on a hill that cannot be hidden; this is very profound. 


A City during the Bible days is a highly fortified Place. 


Unlike Villages and towns, Cities have walls and gates. 


For instance, Jericho was a City with Mighty walls and gates - *Joshua 6:1,20*


Therefore, it is understood that Jesus was saying Believers are like Cities, highly fortified against enemy attacks of all kinds. 


In light of this, Paul said henceforth let no man trouble me for I bear on my body the marks of the Lord Jesus - *Galatians 6:17*


He was saying I am highly fortified so no man can trouble me. 


It is also written that no weapon formed against thee shall Prosper - *Isaiah 54:17*


He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes - *Psalms 105:14*


These are evidence that believers are highly fortified.

 

Another revelation of  Believers as Cities, comes from the understanding that unlike villages and towns, kings are seated in cities.


Ai was a tiny Place with a tiny name but as small as it was, it was a City because it had a king - *Joshua 8:1*


Jesus was saying Believers are kings full of Power. 


The Bible says he hath made us unto God kings and Priests and we shall reign on Earth - *Revelations 5:10*


Believers are full of Power. 


Peter exercised his God given Power by raising up a man lame from birth, at the  gate of the Temple called Beautiful - *Acts 3:1-8*


Paul also exercised his God given Power when he Pronounced blind, Elymas the sorcerer, who was hindering the Preaching of the Gospel - *Acts 13:8-11*


What do you use your God given Power for? 


As a City therefore, you are highly fortified against any attack. 


You are full of Power to do greater works than our Lord Jesus did, when He walked the Earth - *John 14:12*


*Prayer:* 

Father, please as I launch out against the kingdom of darkness, let every knee against me bow in Jesus Christ Name.
