*THINK BEFORE YOU ACT*

SCRIPTURE: But while he thought on these things, behold, the Angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost - *Matthew 1:20*


Mary was espoused to Joseph and before they came together, Mary had an encounter with an Angel of the Lord, who told her she was going to conceive a son through the Holy Ghost.


After the encounter, Mary went to her cousin Elisabeth's Place and stayed there for three Months.


Thereafter, Joseph discovered that Mary was Pregnant and being a Just Man, he did not want to expose Mary to an open shame.


In our Anchor Text, we see that he had a deep thought on the step to take and while thinking on the best way to handle the situation, the Angel of the Lord appeared to him and told him not to be afraid to take Mary as his wife, for the Pregnancy is of the Holy Spirit.


*How beautiful and Glorious it is for us to think, not only before we act, but also before we speak.* 


*Spontaneous reactions could lead to making decisions that leaves us with a lifetime of Pain and regret.*


*Thinking before acting is wisdom, while acting before thinking leads to regret.*


Joseph thought before he acted because he was a Just Man, with a Pure motive. 


He did not want to expose Mary to ridicule and the Lord helped him; his actions were ordered by the Lord. 


The Bible says the steps of a Good Man are ordered by the Lord - *Psalms 37:23*


*Two qualities that are essential to being helped of the Lord which was demonstrated by Joseph are:*


*(1)* He was a Just Man.


The Bible says behold the Lord will not cast away a Perfect Man neither will he give help to an evil doer - *Job 8:20*


*(2)* He had a Good Motive. 


He chose not to put Mary to shame.


The Bible says who shall ascend to the Hill of the Lord? It is one with a clean hand and a Pure heart - *Psalms 24:3-4*


*Our actions will be Purposeful, result oriented and regret free, if we just act with the right Motives.*


*Prayer:*

Father, Please help me to think before acting so as to avert pain and regrets in my life in Jesus Christ Name.
