         *NEW BEGINNING*

SCRIPTURE: Elisha saw it, and he cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!” So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two Pieces - *2 Kings 2:12*


*Life is a series of New Beginnings.*


Elisha was busy Ploughing with twelve yokes of oxen, when Elijah met him and cast his Mantle upon him - *1 Kings 19:19*


This was a New Beginning for him because with this encounter, his Passion and Practice of farming ended and he began the journey of Ministry. He became a son of the Prophet Pouring water in the hands of Elijah - *2 Kings 3:11*


*In this New Beginning, he moved away from the wrong side of Destiny to the right side.*


In our Anchor Text above, we see that Elisha had another New Beginning, when his Master Elijah, had been taken up .


*In this New Beginning, Elijah had many experiences:*


*(1)* He was lifted above his contemporaries.


His contemporaries, the sons of the Prophets at Jericho, saw him and bowed to the ground before him - *2 Kings 2 :15*


*(2)* He moved from being a Servant, to being a Master. 


He moved from a son of a Prophet to also being a Prophet.


*(3)* He began to do the works his Master did.


Elijah Parted Jordan with a Mantle, Elisha also did same.


Our Lord Jesus said the works I do, you will do also - *John 14:12a*


*(4)* He did Greater Works than his Master.


In his New Beginning, the men of Jericho came to complain about their City with bad water and barren ground and Elisha was able to heal the City - *2 King 2:19-21*


Elijah knew about the Problem while alive, but could not do anything because the City was cursed by Joshua and Elijah was operating at the same level of Anointing with Joshua - *Joshua 6:26*


Elisha cancelled the curse because he was operating with Double Portion of the Anointing upon Elijah.


Our Lord Jesus said Greater Works than this you will do - *John 14:12b*


*(5)* He did twice as much as his Master did.


Elish raised only one dead Person to life, Elisha raised two dead Persons back to life - *2 Kings 2:32-36; 2 Kings 13:21*


*These New Beginnings experienced by Elisha, were Glorious ones because they were orchestrated by God Himself. It was God who led Elijah to Elisha.*


*It was God who gave the Double Portion of the Spirit of Elijah to Elisha, it was not Elijah who gave him for nobody could give what he did not have.* 


*And this was why Elisha received it as God took Elijah to Heaven.*


*In essence, our lives can be series of Glorious New Beginnings when the finger of God is at work in our lives.*


*Prayer:*

Father, Please stretch Your finger into my life to trigger New Beginnings in Jesus Christ Name.
