*SHOW UP TO SHOW OFF*

SCRIPTURE: To bring Queen Vashti before the King, wearing her Royal Crown, in order to show her beauty to the People and the Officials, for she was beautiful to behold. But Queen Vashti refused to come at the King’s command brought by his Eunuchs; therefore the King was furious, and his anger burned within him -*Esther 1:11‭-‬12*


The name Vashti, King Ahasuerus' Queen, appeared in only two Chapters of the Bible - Chapters one and two of the Book of Esther.


The First Chapter depicted the request for her to show off her beauty, for she was fair to look on - *Esther 1:11*


The Second Chapter was the account of her dethronement and replacement by Esther, for she had disobeyed the King.


*Great Lessons to learn from her showing up, and sudden disappearance into total oblivion, because Nothing was written again concerning her.*


*1. The First Lesson to learn is that growing up is better than going up.*


*Everyone can go up but not everyone can stay up - It takes growing up to go up, and stay up.*


Vashti did not grow up, she went up. 


The Bible tells us about John the Baptist, that he grew and waxed Strong in Spirit and was in the deserts till the day of his showing unto Israel - *Luke 1:80*


Similarly, Samuel the Greatest Prophet who ever lived in Israel, grew up and was in favour with the Lord and with men - *1 Samuel 2:26*


*We must not be eager to show up, but Patiently grow up for us to stay up.*


*We must be well equipped for the Assignment we want to handle.* 


*And Submission to Godly Process and Principles is key.*


*2. Secondly, we learnt from Vashti that the Purpose of our showing up is important.*


A careful Study of her Life showed that she showed up to show off her beauty, for she was fair to look at - *Esther 1 :11*


The Bible says whatsoever we do, we should do all to the Glory of the Lord - *1 Corinthians 10:31*


*Vashti disappeared into oblivion because she did not show up for God to be Glorified.*


*Showing up to show our Intellect, Beauty, Wealth, Achievements etc. will result in sudden disappearance.*


*3. Thirdly, Vashti was not aware of the Purpose of her showing up.*


She was a Queen to King Ahasuerus - She was a Queen because there was a King; she was raised to be a Helper to the King and not to Stand Independently - *Genesis 2:18*


*Vashti wanted to establish her own Government in opposition to that of King Ahasuerus.*


In our Anchor Text above, she lived to disobey the king.


*Our Lord Jesus Christ said: Every Kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every City or house divided against itself shall not Stand* - *Matthew 12:25*


*Conclusively, no one bears the name Vashti again in the Bible, because nobody wanted to show up to disappear into total oblivion.*


*Prayer:*

Father, Please help me that I will not show up to disappear into total oblivion in Jesus Christ Name.
