      *NO MORE TRIBUTE*

SCRIPTURE: Then King Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his Chariot, to flee to Jerusalem - *1 Kings 12:18 KJV*

When Solomon, King of Israel, died, his son Rehoboam took over from him. The men of Israel came to him and complained that his father had made their lives bitter with heavy tribute, and they requested that he lighten their burden.

Rehoboam asked them to return in three days for an answer. He consulted with the Elders, who advised him to lighten the burden so that the People would serve him wholeheartedly. 

However, he also consulted with the Young men, who advised him to make their burden even heavier.

When the men of Israel returned on the third day, Rehoboam told them he would make their lives even more bitter. 

As a result, the children of Israel broke away from him, leaving him only with those in the Cities of Judah, and Jeroboam became King over the rest.

Rehoboam then sent Adoram to collect tribute, but the children of Israel stoned him to death - *1 Kings 12:18*

*By this act, they were declaring, “No more tribute.”*

*No more tribute therefore has several meanings:*

*a)* It means an end has come to Slavery - *Psalm 124:7–8*

Slavery is synonymous with oppression, affliction, and sorrow - *Exodus 3:7*

*b)* It means Freedom from oppression and affliction.

When Ahab commanded that a Prophet be imprisoned, he ordered that he be fed with the bread of affliction and the water of affliction - *1 Kings 22:27*

*c)* It means the end of Sorrow and the beginning of Liberty - *Isaiah 54:14; Isaiah 51:11*

*When tribute ends, oppression ends, affliction ceases, and Joy is restored.*


*Prayer*


Father  Please let my days of Slavery, oppression, and affliction come to an end in Jesus Christ Name.
