SCRIPTURE: But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the Cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them - *1 Kings 12:17 KJV*

When Rehoboam took over from Solomon as King of Israel, the children of Israel came to him to lighten the burden his father had imposed on them. He turned down their request and Promised to increase the burden.

The children of Israel broke away from him, and he was left to govern only those in the Cities of Judah.

*Lessons*

*1)* Anyone building his Joy on the Pain of others is on his way down - *Proverbs 16:5*

*2)* Rehoboam went down to a Position his grandfather David started from.

David began to reign as King of Judah - *2 Samuel 2:4*

*Whoever is making life bitter for others, the least of those who have gone before him will be his peak in Life.*

*3)* The difference between going up and going down is a decision.

Rehoboam decided to embrace the evil counsel of the Young men while despising the counsel of the Elders.

*4)* It is costly to despise the Wisdom of the Elders.

What the Elders see sitting, the Young ones may not see Standing.

The Bible says the Glory of Young men is their Strength and the beauty of Old men is the grey head - *Proverbs 20:29*

*5)* At the centre of all wickedness is the love of money - *1 Timothy 6:10*

Rehoboam's love for Material gain was the root of his going down.

 *Prayer*

Father, Please do not let me take decisions that will bring me down in Jesus Christ Name.
