THE SECRET OF CHURCH GROWTH
*THE SECRET OF CHURCH GROWTH*
Acts 2:47 – “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
Church growth is not by accident. It is not by noise, buildings, or popularity. According to Scripture, God is the One who gives increase (1 Corinthians 3:6). However, there are divine principles that position a church for growth.
Let us look at the secrets of church growth.
1. Prayer – The Foundation of Growth
Acts 1:14 – “These all continued with one accord in prayer…”
Before Pentecost, there was prayer. Before the 3,000 souls were added, there was prayer.
A praying church is a growing church.
Prayer invites the Holy Spirit.
Prayer breaks spiritual resistance.
No church grows beyond its prayer altar.
2. The Presence and Power of the Holy Spirit
Zechariah 4:6 – “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit…”
Programs cannot replace the Spirit. Strategies cannot replace the anointing.
In Acts 2, when the Holy Ghost came, the church exploded in growth.
The Holy Spirit convicts, converts, and confirms.
3. Sound Doctrine and the Word of God
Acts 2:42 – “They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine…”
Growth is sustained by truth.
Strong teaching produces strong believers.
The Word builds stability.
Acts 6:7 – “And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied…”
When the Word increases, the church increases.
4. Love and Unity Among Members
Acts 2:44 – “All that believed were together…”
Psalm 133:1 – “Behold, how good and pleasant it is…”
Unity attracts God’s blessing. Division kills growth.
A loving church becomes attractive to outsiders.
5. Evangelism and Soul Winning
Matthew 28:19 – “Go ye therefore…”
The early church did not wait for people to come — they went out.
Personal evangelism
Community outreach
Passion for souls
A church that does not evangelize will eventually fossilize.
6. Strong and Godly Leadership
1 Peter 5:2 – “Feed the flock of God…”
Growth requires:
Visionary leadership
Integrity
Care for the flock
Where leadership is weak, growth is limited.
7. Discipleship and Follow-Up
Matthew 28:20 – “Teaching them to observe all things…”
It is not enough to win souls; we must raise (1).disciples.
(2).Teach them.
(3).Mentor them.
(4).Help them grow.
NOTE:
Disciples reproduce disciples.
The Ultimate Secret
1 Corinthians 3:6 – “I planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.”
The ultimate secret of church growth is God Himself.
When a church:
*Prays,
*Honors the Holy Spirit,
*Preaches sound doctrine,
*Walks in love,
*Wins souls,
*Raises disciples,
God will bring increase.
CONCLUSION
Church growth is not about competition; it is about obedience. It is not about crowd gathering; it is about life transformation.
When we align with God’s principles, growth becomes inevitable.
