*GOD’S OUTSTRETCHED ARMS*
*By Pastor E O Gabriel 11 September 2026: Share*
SCRIPTURE: And the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt with a Mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders - *Deuteronomy 26:8 KJV*
The above Scripture reveals to us the secret behind the freedom of the children of Israel from four hundred and thirty years of Captivity. It was not their Strength nor their Wisdom that ended their affliction, but the outstretched arm of God.
*What is the meaning of God’s outstretched arm?*
It is a Metaphor used mostly in the Old Testament to mean:
*1)* God’s Intervention in Human History.
*2)* The demonstration of God’s Sovereign Power.
Let us therefore consider in detail what the outstretched arm of the Lord did for them:
*1) It ended their delay and activated their Set Time for freedom.*
According to the Divine Calendar, the children of Israel were to spend four hundred years in Egypt, but God’s Agenda for them suffered delay. When God stretched out His arm, the delay ended and the set time for freedom was activated - *Genesis 15:13; Exodus 12:40*
*2) It humbled the Mighty behind their affliction.*
Pharaoh, the Mighty Ruler, said, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice?” - *Exodus 5:1–2; Exodus 12:31-32*
When the Mighty collide with the arm of the Almighty, they will be humbled, if not crushed - *Exodus 12:31–32*
*3) It ended the reign of terror over them.*
Whenever the Almighty stretches out His arm, the wickedness of the wicked shall come to an end - *Psalm 7:8–9*
*4) It preserved them from all evils. Psalm 121:7*
There were ten Plagues in Egypt, but the outstretched arm of the Lord Preserved the children of Israel in Goshen from all these evils - *Exodus 9:26*
*5) It addressed the injustices of the Past.*
The children of Israel were unjustly treated for four hundred and thirty years and worked without pay. With God’s outstretched arm, the injustice was addressed, and they left Egypt with silver and gold - *Psalm 105:37*
*6) It Strengthened them - Psalm 89:20–21*
When the children of Israel left Egypt, there was no sick Person among them - *Psalm 105:37*
No Sickness can stand the arm of God.
*7)* *It made a way where there was no way.*
*8)* *It turned their Mourning into dancing* - *Exodus 15:1*
The children of Israel who were groaning - *Exodus 2:24*
With the outstretched arm began to sing for Joy - *Exodus 15:1*
*Prayer*
Father in the Name of Jesus Christ, Please stretch forth Your Mighty arm in my Life and deliver me from every form of affliction, delay, and oppression.
