*WHEN MERCY PREVAILS OVER JUDGEMENT*

*By Pastor E O Gabriel  19 June 2023*

SCRIPTURE: said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more - *John 8:11*

The Story of the woman caught in the very act of Adultery, shows to us that there are blessings when Mercy Prevails over Judgement.

Moses commanded in the Law that such a woman should be stoned. When she was brought before our Lord Jesus Christ, Mercy Prevailed over Judgement. She was allowed to go free.

Jesus said to her in our Anchor Text above, go and sin no more.

*There are several implications such as:*

*(1)* She was freed from the consequences of her wrong decision and error.

Consequences of wrong decision and error could be fatal as seen in the case of Ahitophel and Uzzah, who Paid with their own lives for their wrong decision and error respectively - *2 Samuel 17:23, 2 Samuel 6:7*

In the case of the adulterous woman, Mercy spoke for her and she was freed from the consequences of her wrong decision and error.

*(2)* She was brought out from among her accusers.

The Bible says: And brought out Israel from among them, for his Mercy endureth for ever - *Psalms 136:11*

When Mercy Prevailed over Judgement for the woman, she was brought out from among her Accusers.

*(3)* She was lifted out of her Low moment.

It was a real Low moment for her when she was caught in Adultery and liable to be stoned. But the Mercy of God lifted her out of her Low moment.

The Bible says, who remembered us in our Low Estate, for his Mercy endureth for ever - *Psalms 136:23*

*(4)* She was delivered from those who sought after her Life.

She was brought to face Judgement for her sin, while the man was allowed to escape because they were after her life only.

*The Mercy of God will deliver a man from all those who seek after his  Life.*

Saul sought after the Life of David but the Mercy of God delivered him - *1 Samuel 18:11, 1 Samuel 20:1, Psalms 18:50*

*(5)* She discovered her Destiny and fulfilled it.

Jesus said to her go and sin no more.

*There are three Classes of People in the world:*

First, those who die and  never discover their Destiny - Methuselah is an example.

Second, those who will discovered it but derailed before they die - Judas Iscariot, Ahithophel, Demas are examples.

Thirdly, those will discovered it and fulfilled it - Rahab, Ruth, Paul are examples.

*It takes the Mercy of God for anyone to discover and fulfill his Destiny.*

*With the aforementioned, blessings, it is important to Provoke the Mercy of God in our lives.*

*Prayer:*

Father, Please let your Mercy Prevail over Judgement for my family and I.
