*BEYOND THE WISDOM OF JACOB*

SCRIPTURE: And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days -

*Genesis 49:1*

Wisdom is the Principal Thing. It is better than rubies; and all things that may be desired are not to be compared to it - *Proverbs 8:11*

There is no doubt that Jacob was a Man of immense Wisdom. 

In our Anchor Text above, he gathered his children together and was telling them what was to become of each of them in future.

He spoke to Reuben  his firstborn that he wouldn't excel in life. 

This may sound quite harsh and unfatherly but through his walk with God in life, he knew that woe betides the wicked and it shall be ill with the wicked - *Isaiah 3:11*

Jacob was not a Prophet, but he Predicted his future by applying the Knowledge he had acquired. 

He said Reuben was unstable, he defiled his father's bed. He had an affair with his father's concubine - *Genesis 35:22*

As spoken by Jacob, Reuben never excelled. He was the firstborn entitled to Double Portions but never Possessed it. Rather, it was Joseph that excelled. That was why we had the Tribes of Manasseh and Ephraim - *Numbers 1:33-35*

We also see that what Jacob said about the other children came to Pass.

*Jacob displayed Great Wisdom in Studying the lives of his children and he spoke accurately about their future.*

*But as Parents today, we should go beyond the Wisdom of Jacob, to tell our children what to do to have a Glorious future.*

For instance, Jacob said to Levi, because of his anger, he would be scattered in Israel - *Genesis 49:7*

But, we see later that because the Tribe of Levi stood for God, God decided to reverse the curse of Jacob - *Exodus 32:26*

God has sent His Son to call sinners  to repentance - *Luke 5:32*

*We have the Assignment to warn the wicked of the danger ahead, and also show them what to do, to escape the danger ahead.*

*Prayer:*

Father, Please give me Wisdom that surpasses that of Jacob, that the future of my children will be Glorious.
