*THE POWER OF THE MEDIA*

                                           


The media has been with us for a long time. It is one of our culture-shaping instruments. It is used to teach and orient people's minds. It is a piece of programming software.
 
The media is extremely powerful since it is used to influence people's minds. Whatever enters your mind will manifest in your life. The advertisement, the news, the cartoon, the movie, and the information are all deliberate.
 
People's subconscious minds are influenced by what they hear and see. Especially if they view it on a regular basis. People are scripted by what they consistently hear and see. This is what drives their actions. When something is seen or heard frequently, it gets ingrained in a person's mind. It becomes a part of them. It becomes the basis for how we react to particular situations.
 
 
Parents frequently complain about their children's behaviour, claiming that they have no idea where they learned this or that, although they have always allowed them access to certain things in the media. The answer is not farfetched; simply monitor what your children are exposed to in the media.
 
What you don't realize is that the folks behind every television program have a message they're trying to get through; they're not saying it out loud, but they're acting it out for everyone to see. How many people will they be able to reach with their words of mouth? However, the media is everywhere, whether it is in print or broadcast.
 
The power behind the media determines the ideology it sells to the public. As parents, we need to be more involved in our children's lives since what they watch is more than just a movie, a cartoon, or a musical; they are acquiring culture, manners, and values from them.
 
As a rule of thumb, *whatever you cannot practice at home should not be watched on television*.
