*THE LORD LOVED SOLOMON*

*By Pastor E O Gabriel  16 September 2023*

SCRIPTURE: And David comforted Bath-sheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him - *2 Samuel 12:24*

O the depth of the riches both of the Wisdom and Knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His Judgements, and His Ways Past finding out! - *Romans 11:33*

The Lord loved Solomon confirms that His Judgements are unsearchable.

According to our Anchor Text above, David had an affair again with Bathsheba and she conceived and bare a son and he called his name Solomon and the Lord Loved him.

Bathsheba was the woman David committed adultery with and killed her husband, and the anger of God rose against him. God Punished him for his sins and when he acknowledged his sins and Pleaded for Mercy, God forgave him.

After his forgiveness, he slept with Bathsheba and gave birth to Solomon and God loved him.

Solomon was loved by the Lord above all the children of David. Solomon was the child that sat on the Throne of his father, David.

*Let us take a look at the implications of the love the Lord had for Solomon:*

*(1)* It teaches us that God's Ways and thoughts are different from ours - *Isaiah 55:8-9*

God forgave David and gave him a Second Chance, but Ahithophel who was related to the husband of Bathsheba was bitter about the incident till death.

*(2)* It teaches us that the anger of God endures but  moment - *Psalms 30:5*

Whenever we sin, acknowledge our sins, Plead for Mercy and turn away from our sins, the Lord will forgive and remember our sins no more - *Proverbs 28:13, Hebrews 8:12*

*(3)* It teaches us that whenever God forgives, it will be evident He has forgiven.

His love for Solomon was a clear evidence that He had forgiven David.

*(4)* It teaches us that God's Words are Supreme - *Psalms 138:2*

God said He will keep His Mercy for David for evermore - *Psalms 89:28*

God's Word is Superior to situations and circumstances.

*(5)* It confirms that God is a Covenant Keeper - *Psalms 89:34*

*(6)* It teaches us that the Righteous can rise again after a fall - *Micah 7:8, Proverbs 24:16*

*(7)* It teaches us that the Seed of Jacob will not  seek God in vain - *Isaiah 45:19*

When the first child Bathsheba had for David was struck by the Lord and was ill, he sought the face of God but the child died - *2 Samuel 12:15-18*

The Second child was alive and loved by God, so David did not seek God in vain.

From the above, it is clear that David's Positive response to his chastisement yielded a Good Reward.

*Prayer:*

Father, Please help me not to harden my heart to your corrections.
