*BEWARE OF COVETOUSNESS*
*By Pastor E O Gabriel 26 February 2025:Share*
SCRIPTURE: And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he Possesses" - *Luke 12:15*
*Gehazi, Elisha's servant was covetous - His story would help us to understand the danger(s) of Covetousness.*
Naaman, the Captain of the Host of Syria, was a great man but a leper - *2 Kings 5:1*
He came to Elisha for healing and Elisha sent to Naaman - He was to go wash in River Jordan seven times.
Naaman obeyed and was healed.
Thereafter, he Presented Gifts to Elisha, which Elisha refused.
Gehazi went behind his Master, met Naaman and received the Gifts.
*Elisha by the Spirit of the Lord, knew what his servant had done in secret and he commanded Naaman's leprosy to cleave unto Gehazi and his Lineage.*
*Covetousness is an "Inordinate Desire" - It is to desire something so desperately and be willing to do something wrong, even to neglect the Will of God to obtain it.*
*The Common word for Covetousness is Greed.*
Gehazi desired the Gifts his Master had refused and lied to Naaman to receive them.
*His Greed caused him to incure a curse upon himself and his Generation.*
*He also forfeited the opportunity to receive the "Double Portion" of the Spirit of Elisha.*
*1. Covetousness will cause us to loose whatever God has given to us* - *Jeremiah 18:10*
*2. Covetousness also disqualifies a man from Leadership Positions and shortens his life's span* - *Exodus 18:21, Proverbs 28:16*
*Prayer:*
Father, Please give me Grace to rid my heart of Covetousness in Jesus Christ Name.
