       *WHY SIT WE HERE?*

*By Pastor E O Gabriel  27 September 2023*

SCRIPTURE: Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, “Why are we sitting here until we die? - *2 Kings 7:3*

The four lepers who were at the entrance of the gate of Samaria during famine asked themselves this Pertinent question: Why sit we here until we die?

*Let us do an in-depth analysis of their question with a view to answering it:*

*(1)* They asked why they should allow their challenges to constrain them to a Place.

Whatever has happened to us shouldn't be allowed to define us and truncate our Destinies. We are still bigger and greater than what has happened to us.

Jabez had a horrible beginning because his mother spoke evil into his life. He overcame and showed himself bigger and greater than his circumstances - *1 Chronicles 4:9-10*

*(2)* They asked why they should sit down and keep lamenting their shortcomings until they die?

*One of the ways of immortalising challenges is to keep lamenting and regretting it. Lamenting and regrets lead only to death.*

*It was not the betrayal by Judas Iscariot that led him to commit suicide, because Jesus Prayed for their forgiveness on the Cross. It was his lamentation and regrets about what happened.*

*(3)* Why should they live the rest of their lives being Prisoners of their Past?

The future is more important than the Past.

*(4)* They said to themselves if we live in the Past, we die in the Past.

*(5)* They said to themselves, let us learn from our Past and move on.

*We shouldn't build a tower of Babel with our challenges, but rather use our challenges as building materials for the construction of a Glorious tomorrow.*

*Prayer:*

Father, Please help me not to destroy my future with my Past but to build an enduring future with my Past.
