SCRIPTURE: And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake? - *2 Samuel 9:1*
*The concept of Grace is often misunderstood among Believers.*
*Many erroneously believe Grace gives licence to sin.*
*The truth is we are saved from our sins by grace through Faith* - *Ephesians 2:8*
Our Text above aptly explains the concept of Grace.
When David became the king of Israel, he decided to show kindness to anyone in the house of Saul for Jonathan's sake.
Jonathan was David's covenant. He was helpful to him in his challenging times. David remembered the sacrifices of his friend Jonathan and decided to show kindness to his descendants.
Through Ziba, Saul's servant, Mephibosheth was found in Leodobar and brought to the king in the Palace.
Mephibosheth from that day was eating bread continually with the king and all that pertains to Saul and his house were released to Mephibosheth.
This story fully explains the concept of Grace.
*Grace therefore is the Unmerited, Underserved, Unearned Favour, Goodwill, Lovingkindness of God released to us for the sake of Christ Jesus.*
The Bible says the Law was given by Moses but Grace and Truth came by Jesus Christ - *John 1:17*
Mephibosheth received the king's kindness for Jonathan's sake.
In the story, Mephibosheth did not merit it because though he was a Prince, at the age of five, he became lame - *2 Samuel 4:4*
Customarily, Physical deformities disqualified a man from entering the Palace.
Mephibosheth did not merit the kindness of the king. He never worked for it nor did he earn it
The Bible says: If by Grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise Grace is no more Grace.
But if it be of works, then is it no more Grace: otherwise work is no more work - *Romans 11:6*
Apostle Paul said: Whereof I was made a Minister according to the Gift of the Grace of God given unto me -
*Ephesians 3:7*
*Grace is not earned but a Gift of God.*
*Key Note:*
Grace does not give licence to sin, it brings Salvation to us.
*Prayer:*
Father, Please save everyone in my household by your Grace in Jesus Christ Name.
